I am Hrudaya Veena. I am an engineer turned Designer from India.I have a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communications engineering from Osmania University and a Diploma in Art and Design from Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology. I am currently pursuing an MFA in Design for Social Innovation at the School of Visual Arts.
My passion for learning and specially people's stories by deeply understanding the need that we are solving for brought me to New York city to pursue Social Design. I enjoy the Human Centered design approach. With the eye of an engineer, I truly believe that spending time understanding the problem helps shape innovation that addresses needs. With this interest, I am on my journey to pursue a career as a Human centred designer.
I spent last summer working as an intern with the Strategy and Innovation team at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. My work there was to understand the needs and challenges of Cancer survivors and suggest design principles for smoother transition to survivorship after active treatment. Some of my other work consists of creating communication strategies for organizations like Going to School, India, Visit.org, United Nations Foundation (Social Good Summit, We The Future) and West Chelsea Energy Alliance. I am currently also a Public Access Design Fellow at the Center for Urban Pedagody in Brooklyn, New York.
Following my internship at MSKCC, I am currently working at solving for needs of Cancer Survivors going back to work as part of my thesis at the Design for Social Innovation Program.
I enjoy painting, cooking and travelling with my family.
